Summary

This is a day of reflection on the first year of the implementation of ‘How Good Is Our College’ and the new Quality Arrangements, looking at it from the viewpoint of Colleges, Education Scotland and the Scottish Funding Council. There are presentations from all three areas, and there are two discussion workshops for delegates to reflect on the presentations and on their own experiences since the launch of HGIOC in December 2016. There is also an input on the emerging area of EU General Data Protection Regulation which may have an impact on the way that Quality Teams handle data. The event should provide an opportunity for all delegates to find out about the latest thinking, to influence the direction taken in 2017/18 and to learn from the experiences of the first year of implementation.

Who should attend

Student Association representatives, Quality Managers, Strategic Managers with responsibility for Quality.

Aims

  • Provide information on learning points from the first year of implementation of How Good Is Our College (HGIOC) and the Quality Arrangements.
  • Facilitate discussion across the colleges to identify any other learning points in relation to HGIOC and the Quality Arrangements.
  • Learn about issues identified in the first year by Education Scotland in relation to evaluation and evaluative writing.
  • Provide opportunities for issues around evaluation to be discussed and learning points to be identified.
  • Raise awareness of the European Union General Data Protection Regulation and the impact that this is likely to have on Quality processes which rely on data.
