Who should attend
Anyone with an interest in developing accessible course materials.
Summary
Course
materials are core to the learning experience. To create an inclusive learning
experience, materials need to be as accessible as possible. This will improve
the usability of materials for all learners and mean students with additional
needs will require fewer adaptations. Where adaptations are required, these
will be faster and easier to produce.
In this session, we will
start with a basic Word document and build in accessibility – demonstrating how
it can be used to support a variety of learners, with the same techniques being
applicable to other formats (PowerPoint, etc.).
Aims
- Understand how accessible course materials can ‘level the playing field’ for students.
- Learn how to create your own accessible materials
- Have the opportunity to ask questions related to your own context
