This event will cover:

  • An Introduction to Cyber Security presented by Dr George Weir, University of Strathclyde.
  • Cyber Security - a business perspective, presented by David Stubley, CEO, 7 Elements.
    David will talk about examples of cyber threats that he has experienced in the workplace, describing what was breached, how incidents were dealt with and the learning from this. He will also discuss high profile cyber crimes that have taken place and provide his analysis on these.
  • Demonstrations on ethical hacking and digital forensics which can be recreated in class.
  • A session on the following:
    • an introduction to the NPA Assessment Support Packs;
    • preparing and setting up the assessments and
    • group discussions on the practical assessments, to look at the barriers that exist for assessment delivery and how these can be overcome.
The Digital Skills Partnership’s (DSP) events this autumn are focusing on supporting lecturers with the delivery of the new HNC in Cyber Security. A series of CPD events will be run in November and December 2018. To book a place on the upcoming events in this series please follow the links below.
