Summary

If you’re considering a digital career, then the future’s bright. The top three companies in the world* are all about technology and by all accounts the jobs are out there – today’s headlines pronounce tech skills shortages measuring in the thousands. And yet, we also hear about studying for jobs that don’t exist yet and a workforce that will be dominated by AI and automation.

‘Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around for a while, you could miss it.'

Ferris Bueller

So if the future is digital, what should educational institutions be doing to prepare? What is the ideal skillset for a job that doesn’t have a name? If there are thousands of employment opportunities on offer, where are they? And if we need to develop everyone’s digital skills (including our own), who is going to be doing that?

Well, our event might not have all the answers … but we’ve brought together the right people to share their opinions, perspectives and facts. Among those joining us will be:

  • Steven Drost, Chief Strategy Office at CodeBase, the UK’s largest tech incubator to share his opinions on the ideal tech candidate;
  • Justin Black, Senior Manager, Hays Recruiting who knows the hard figures when it comes to who’s hiring and the skills they’re looking for;
  • Craig Steele, CoderDojo Scotland, leading the CoderDojo movement in Scotland, with more than a few ideas on how we should be addressing the skills gap of the future workforce.

If you’re available, then please join us on the 15th and learn how you can contribute to Developing the Digital Workforce.
