1600-1700 (The room will be open to join 30 minutes prior to the start of the Webinar)

Who should attend

This webinar will be of interest to: anyone working as, or teaching, early-years practitioners & parents of young children

Summary

We are inadvertently harming boys and girls by communicating outdated gender stereotypes to them from their earliest years of life. By understanding their origins and impact; and reflecting on our own practice we can move away from such damaging patterns. This webinar will review the causes and consequences of gender stereotyping and explore ways we can prevent it from limiting our children's future.

Aims

By the end of this session, participants will have:

  • Examined the impact of gender stereotypes on children's development & adult's life chances
  • Reviewed the scientific basis for gender differences in socialisation
  • Explored options to reduce gender inequality within early years' classrooms and nursery schools
