SQA Thematic Review: Core and other essential generic skills Here

Interactive theme B Work Placement Standards, Employer Engagement and Work Place Learning

Developing the Young Workforce Work Placements Standard Here

This theme, focussing on Childhood Practice and Sport and Exercise teams from West Lothian College involves staff, learners and employers discussing how they work together to provide a rich learning experience for all.

A panel session will enable delegates to ask questions, discuss and share ideas and practices.

Interactive Theme C Delivering Career Management Skills

SDS My World of Work Here

Building on the highly successful My World of Work (MyWoW) Ambassador Programme, Skills Development Scotland (SDS) in partnership with CDN, Dundee and Angus College and New College Lanarkshire, has piloted an Ambassador Programme for colleges.

This theme will demonstrate good practice in line with:

  • The key policy drivers of DYW, Careers Education Standard (CES) and CfE
  • Future thinking around effective embedding of essential and career management skills.

It provides an opportunity to:

  • Hear first-hand about the tangible benefits that a college Ambassador Programme can bring
  • Directly improve outcomes for young people
  • Discuss how this might work in your own college or setting and find out how to access support to implement a similar programme in the coming academic year.
